Subtropical Swimming Paradise

Step into a world of warmth and wonder at the Subtropical Swimming Paradise, heated to a tropical 29.5°C all year round. Whether you're looking for thrills or a relaxing swim, it's the perfect place for family fun, whatever the weather.


Opening Times

Daily: 9am–8pm

Guests are welcome to enjoy the Subtropical Swimming Paradise as soon as they arrive on the village and as often as they like throughout their stay.

Quiet Hour

Quiet Hour takes place at 9am every Wednesday and Sunday, creating a calmer swimming environment.

During Quiet Hour:

  • Waves are turned off.
  • Slides, rides and water features are unavailable.
  • Loud music is switched off.
  • Main pools and rapids remain open.

Swimwear

  • Swimwear must be worn in all pool areas.
  • Guests who are not swimming may wear suitable beachwear, such as T-shirts and shorts.
  • Exceptions may be made for guests with disabilities, medical needs or religious requirements.
  • Burkinis and burkas are permitted. However, guests wearing a burka cannot use the flumes or Jungle River for health and safety reasons.
  • Pool footwear is permitted.

Buoyancy Aids & Swimming Equipment

Buoyancy aids are available free of charge.

Available sizes:

  • Yellow: Suitable for most children aged 1–6 years (depending on size).
  • Orange: Suitable for children aged 6 years and over.

Guests are welcome to bring:

  • Inflatables
  • Swim noodles

Swimming accessories can also be purchased from the Pool Desk or Aquatique.


Towels & Lockers

Towel Hire

Pool towels can be hired:

  • Through Shopping & Extras in the online account.
  • From the Pool Desk.

Cost: £2.50/€2.50 per towel.

Please return hired towels to the Pool Desk before leaving.

Lockers

  • Lockers are available free of charge in the changing rooms.
  • Lockers are operated using your wristband, which also acts as the key to your accommodation.
  • After your swim, you can use the locker locator system to find your locker number.

Ride Height Restrictions

Height, age and weight restrictions apply to certain rides.

Tropical Cyclone

Minimum height: 1.22m

Village Restrictions
Woburn Forest & Elveden Forest Maximum raft weight 50 stone. Maximum single rider weight 17.5 stone.
Longleat Forest & Sherwood Forest Maximum raft weight 50 stone (317kg). Minimum 2 riders aged 8+ and 1.22m tall. Maximum 3 adults and 1 small child.
Whinfell Forest Maximum raft weight 320kg (50.4 stone). Minimum 2 riders.
Longford Forest Maximum raft weight 50 stone. Maximum single rider weight 18.9 stone.

Typhoon

Minimum height: 1.22m

Village Restrictions
Woburn Forest & Elveden Forest Maximum raft weight 36 stone (228kg). Single riders must be aged 16+. Maximum 2 riders aged 8+.
Longford Forest Maximum raft weight 28 stone. Maximum single rider weight 18.1 stone.

Swimming Safety

General

  • Qualified lifeguards supervise the Subtropical Swimming Paradise at all times.
  • Follow all instructions from the lifeguarding team.
  • Do not run around the pool or changing rooms.
  • Diving and jumping into pools are not permitted.
  • Always observe pool depth markings.
  • Glass items are not permitted.
  • Large inflatable toys and boats are not permitted.
  • Only food and drink purchased within the Subtropical Swimming Paradise may be consumed on the premises. Guests may bring their own water bottle.
  • Sun protection is recommended, as natural sunlight enters the building.

Before Entering the Water

  • Cover all cuts, wounds and contagious skin conditions with a waterproof dressing.
  • Do not swim if you have experienced diarrhoea or a gastro-intestinal illness within the last 48 hours.
  • Do not swim for 14 days following a confirmed Cryptosporidium infection.
  • Children under 3 years old must wear a swim nappy. Swim nappies are available from ParcMarket and the Pool Desk.
  • Children should be encouraged to use the toilet before swimming.

Supervision Ratios

The following supervision ratios apply throughout most areas of the pool:

  • Under 4 years: One child per responsible adult.
  • 4–7 years: Two children per responsible adult.

Responsible adults must:

  • Be at least 16 years old.
  • Remain within arm's reach of weak or non-swimmers at all times.

Different supervision requirements may apply in toddler pools and other designated areas.


Hot Whirlpools

Not available at Woburn Forest.

  • Children under 5 years old must not use the hot whirlpools.
  • Children aged 5 and over may use them for short periods under close adult supervision.
  • Health restrictions are displayed beside each whirlpool and should always be followed.

Wild Water Rapids

Available at all villages except Whinfell Forest.

  • Not suitable for young children, weak swimmers or non-swimmers.
  • Children must not be carried down the rapids.
  • Some sections must be ridden feet first.
  • Snorkels, masks and plaster casts are not permitted.
  • Guests using prostheses may ride individually after speaking with a lifeguard.
  • The attraction is unsuitable for guests with severely limited sight due to the need to anticipate collisions.

Flumes

  • Height, age and swimming ability restrictions apply to selected rides.
  • Traffic light systems and safety signage must always be followed.
  • Babies under 24 months must not use adult flumes, slides or rides.
  • Guests with heart conditions, back injuries, certain medical conditions or who are pregnant should not use the rides.
  • Plaster casts are not permitted on any rides or slides.

Twister

  • Minimum height: 1.22m (all villages except Longford Forest).

Longford Forest

  • Minimum height: 1 metre
  • Maximum rider weight: 21 stone

Please follow all safety signage and lifeguard instructions.


Photography

  • Photography (including still, digital and video) is not permitted in changing areas.
  • Guests may take non-intrusive photos and videos of their own party and friends within the Subtropical Swimming Paradise.
  • Photography must not inconvenience or intrude on other guests.
  • Commercial photography or filming is not permitted anywhere on the villages.
  • Unobtrusive photos and videos may be taken on the Wild Water Rapids and flumes, provided it is safe to do so.
  • Selfie sticks are not permitted on flumes, slides or water rides.
  • Photography equipment may be restricted where it could present a safety risk.
