Cycle Hire
Booking Cycle Hire
Cycles can be pre-booked up to 24 hours before arrival through your online account. After this time, cycles can only be hired by visiting the Cycle Centre, subject to availability.
Cycle hire is charged for the full duration of your stay and includes a cycle helmet.
Collection & Return
Collection times
- Arrival day: 11:00am–8:00pm
- During your stay: 9:00am–5:00pm
Return times
- Departure day: 8:00am–10:00am
If the Cycle Centre is closed when returning your cycle or equipment, use the designated Returns area. Any refundable deposits for D-locks can be collected from Guest Services.
Prices
Cycle hire prices vary depending on the village, break dates and cycle type.
Sample prices:
- Adult cycle (short break): Approximately £45 / €47
- Child's cycle (short break): Approximately £35 / €35
These prices are a guide only and are subject to change.
Cancelling Cycle Hire
If you booked your cycles online:
- Log into your account.
- Go to My Booking > My Itinerary.
- Select your cycle booking.
- Select Cancel.
- Click the green Refund button.
You may not be able to cancel online if:
- The cycles were booked by another guest on your booking (they must cancel using their own account).
- The cycles were booked with your accommodation. These bookings must be cancelled through the Contact Centre.
Viewing Your Cycle Booking
If your cycles were booked with your accommodation, they will not appear in your itinerary.
Instead, they can be viewed in:
My Booking > Booking Overview > View Detailed Receipt
Cycle Safety
- Helmets are included with every cycle hire and are strongly recommended.
- Use cycle lights when riding after dark.
- Always cycle on designated cycle paths and keep to the left.
- Ride carefully, particularly on hills, busy areas and in wet weather.
- Do not cycle in hazardous conditions such as snow, ice or strong winds.
- Cycling is not permitted around main buildings or on restricted routes.
- Cycle locks are available to hire or purchase from the Cycle Centre. Guests bringing their own bikes are encouraged to use a high-quality lock and store cycles inside their accommodation overnight.
- If you experience a puncture or mechanical problem, the Cycle Centre team can assist.
- Report any accidents or damage to the Cycle Centre immediately.
Accessible Cycle Hire & Mobility Equipment
Mobility Scooters & Wheelchairs
Mobility scooters and wheelchairs can be pre-booked 12 weeks before arrival through your online account under the Cycle section, subject to availability.
Mobility Scooters
- Short break: £68 / €75
- Seven-night break: £135 / €150
- £50 refundable deposit
- Maximum user weight: 35 stone
- Usually available from 2:00pm on arrival (once fully charged)
Wheelchairs
- Free to hire
- Refundable deposit required
- Available from 11:00am on arrival
Both should be returned to the Cycle Centre between 8:00am and 10:00am on departure day.
Guests requiring additional assistance should complete the MS Form, and Guest Services will be in touch.
Duet Cycles
Guests who are unable to ride independently may hire a Duet, which combines a wheelchair with a cycle operated by a companion.
Duets can only be booked through the Contact Centre.
Guests requiring additional assistance should complete the MS Form before their visit.
Trikes
Trikes are available at all villages for guests who prefer additional stability.
- Minimum age: 14 years
- Sherwood Forest also has a limited number suitable for 8–14-year-olds.
Pushchair Hire
Pushchairs for children aged 6 months to 3 years can be hired through your online account under the Cycle section.
Includes:
- Rain cover
- Lock
- £30 / €30 refundable deposit required.
- Available from 11:00am–8:00pm on arrival day.
- Return by 10:00am on departure day.
Whinfell Forest also has a limited number of double pushchairs available.
